writing & directing

Chris has written and directed four short drama films which have screened at international BAFTA and Academy affiliated festivals. In 2019 he was invited onto the Edinburgh and Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Labs and was nominated for a Golden Egg award for his short film, The Rocketship.

Chris has a first class MA in Filmmaking and a PgCert in creative writing. He is currently a practice-led PhD candidate in creative writing at Northumbria University where he is writing a British road-novel as a response to Mark Fisher's book Capitalist Realism. Chris' primary interests are in social and magic realism, class liminality, and characters that live on the margins of post-New Labour British society. He is also hoping to write an anthology of shorts that will explore class and identity, and their relationship with the British landscape.

His new short story, The November Storm was published by Sans Press in June 2022.
